First experiments in printmaking were made by Danielis during his studies at art college.

Danielis prefered techniques which resemble the free strokes of brush painting. Thus right from the start he used sugarlift which allowed him to work with a brush, and later added drypoint. and has recently started working with lithography.

The graphic works of Massimo Danielis complement the paintings as a separate entity to a point that the artist sees himself as a painter-printmaker.

As subject matter Danielis draws on the phenomena of his surroundings. Danielis is fascinated by subjects which bear traces of daily life and time such as tables, clothes, walls, or floors, he attempts to show the inherent history and poetry of these objects.

The works are characterised by a free and open technique through which playful forms and surfaces are developed by chance. Thereby the subject is constantly receding into the background until it disappears completely, so that the observer interprets the work as complete abstraction.

In recent years the artist has concentrated on artist books using established literature (poems by Heinrich Heine, texts of Franz von Assisi, Epiktet's book of morals) as well as experimental texts and abstract text forms (e.g roman notices ). These texts are presented opposite the original etchings and lithographs so that word and image compliment each other.
